

This printer is provided for proofing posters before sending them to the large-format printers.

The printer has been configured to expect those paper sizes in those trays, so please do not mix them up! Other page sizes up to the maximum 12"x18" can be fed in the manual Tray 1. We keep standard letter (8.5"x11") size paper in Tray 2 and tabloid (11"x17") size paper in Tray 3.

This is an HP Color Laserjet CP5225 printer capable of paper sizes up to 12"x18". The lab also has a small printer named GRIDProofer. We keep 42 inch wide paper rolls in both printers. It cannot produces lines as fine as ptolemy - it rasterizes them internally at 600 dpi resolution (although it can print at 1200 dpi in "best/maximum detail" mode) and has mechanical accuracy of /- 0.3 mm. It is optimized for photo and image printing with long-lasting pigment inks. It is a reliable printer that is optimized for CAD style drawings, maps, or other prints with a lot of fine line detail. Ptolemy is a HP DesignJet T1120ps printer that is approximately 5 years old. See the lab Questions for more information. Releasing can only be done from the computers in the lab. Prints are charged one dollar per square foot - you must supply a university financial account to release your job to print. Print jobs will only be accepted from the computers in the lab. At least once per year (generally in early fall), this scratch partition will be erased to make room for new projects. Any user may save files there, but their integrity is not guaranteed. If you do not have a home share on, the document and desktop folders will stay in the normal place on the local hard drive and can only be accessed from the specific computer and operating system where they were saved.Įach computer also has a local "scratch" disk partition of approximately 200 Giabytes in size. These files are visible from any computer in the lab under the same operating system.

Mac OS X Desktop files go to the "MacDesktop" subfolder of the "GRIDLab" folder.

Windows Desktop files go to the "Desktop" subfolder of the "GRIDLab" folder on your home share. Separate folders are used for each operating system to avoid confusion from seeing icons and files that only apply to the other operating system. They are accessible from any computer in the lab, running either operating system.įiles you save to the "Desktop" are also stored on your home share. You will find these files in the "GRIDLab" folder in your home share. The lab computers automatically access your home share on the School's high performance file server, , to save your project files that you store in the "Documents" folder of your home profile in Windows 7, or the "Documents" subfolder of your home folder in Mac OS X.
